| Llandysul Angling Association Open Day | ||||||||
Many thanks to Eric blocs for kindly supplying all of the images on this page.
" After the Chairman's welcome, our new members, and some older ones, were initially entertained by Pat O'Reilly and his introduction to the Teifi, followed by Professor John Stoner speaking on the subject of the recently formed Teifi Rivers Trust, and Trusts in general.
This was followed by a lively discussion at the fisherman's forum where two local experts, Steffan Jones and David Williams on this occasion, invited questions from the audience on fishing tactics. This is always a popular event and did not disappoint again this year - we could have talked a lot longer, and so we did over lunch at the Porth Hotel.
Following on in the afternoon, members are invited down to the river for casting tuition and demonstrations, kindly provided by Pat and Sue Parker, accompanied by some of Eric's youth section who were keen to show off their newly acquired skills. Thankfully it was a fine day, and everyone had an enjoyable time down in the park, always a pleasure to watch Sue in action with her double-hander - very impressive.
The last section of the day is devoted to showing new members some of our waters, and how to find them - it's surprising how difficult it can be for newcomers to the area. Many thanks to our committee members for undertaking this work, but it is very much appreciated.
We were also fortunate to have local expert fly-tier Ian Phillips present in the morning to add extra interest and expense to the day,but overall we think it was a day well spent."
Ian Thomas, Chairman of Llandysul AA.
