At the end of April seven fishing club members from Tregaron Angling Association, Llandysul Angling Association and Teifi Trout Association attended training to become Level 1 Coaches.

The course ran by the Federation of Welsh Anglers was a bit of an eye opener to those who were expecting a day focused on their angling skills as the course concentrates more on child protection, health and safety and interpersonal skills than the ability to cast a fly.

At the end of the course the capacity of the TRT to hold events involving children had increased considerably thanks to funding from the EA and the FWA themselves.All of the participants left with a full appreciation of issues on the periphery of angling but of central importance to working with people.
