Maesycrugiau

The Teifi passes through a wood-lined gorge at Maesycrugiau, overlooked by a wonderfully situated 13 th century parish church. The church is open to visit most days of the week, but if you do find it locked there are directions on the church door to a nearby house where the keys are kept.

The bridge at Maesycrugiau is called Pontllwni and sturdily spans the fast-flowing river coming out of the gorge.

Walks:

A ten minute stroll starting at the bridge will take you a short distance along the gorge and around the mound upon which the church stands.

Where this path passes a ruined cottage at the end of the gorge there is a fork off to the left, which can be taken to form a larger loop, returning to Maesycrugiau by small roads.

Getting There: by car, turn right off the A485 about 3km (2 miles) after Llanybydder, follow the small road for approx. 4km (2 ½ miles).

Access: muddy, uneven path. Smooth walkways in churchyard.

Parking: some room for parking at the church gates.

Facilities: Sign-posted footpath.
