Nore Suir Rivers Trust Visit

Some of the members of the Nore Suir River Trust, our partners from the Republic of Ireland, came over to visit in the summer to discuss common ground on which we could develop joint strategies for project developement on our rivers.

Over the weekend policy meetings and tours of the Teifi Valley were undertaken which gave us all a chance to compare and contrast our river systems. The Teifi is quite different to the Nore and Suir catchments it's considerably smaller for a start - but despite these differences we share a number of problems that we hope to tackle together.

We'd hoped to get some sewin fishing in but the rain put a stop to that - so I suppose we did our bit for conservation however unwillingly.

It was a pleasure to meet up again with the lads we'd met in Bunclody at the Salmon Conservation Conference, we're establishing a good working relationship with the NSRT now and look forward to growing into a major force for improving our rivers alongside them. We're both pretty much at the same stage of developement so we can learn a lot from each other as our trusts progress.

Thanks to Bob Wemyss for organising the raiding party, we're all looking forward to our next meeting.
